More about this list
Rated chess around Seoul is run less by the federations than by academies and clubs, each with a numbered series of its own. LSH Chess Academy in Itaewon holds FIDE-rated standard tournaments almost every month, Queen's Chess Academy in Sunae, Bundang, plays the Queen's Standard series, and Ssgssg2 Chess Club in Deogyang, Goyang, has held FIDE-rated standard tournaments, with a first standard open carrying a date at the end of November 2026.
In Apgujeong, the BGM Standard Open, a FIDE-rated event in two groups, was played in the rooms of Playwell, a counselling institute for children and teenagers, in September 2026. Gimpo's Thinkgrow Research Institute hosts a FIDE-rated rapid at its Guraeyeok branch, and the King's Gambit university alliance lists rated tournaments among its activities for university students. Entry is usually closed once the places are taken; the dates, sections and fees are on the notice linked from each card.
