District and city chess federations around Seoul 12

More about this list

Many gu and cities around Seoul have a chess federation of their own, several of them listed by the local sports council, and these bodies run most of the cups a club player meets. The Seoul City Chess Federation holds a chair's-cup olympiad and is credited with the FIDE-rated Seoul Chess Odyssey in Seocho-gu. District federations in Mapo, Songpa, Nowon, Seongdong and Gangdong, and the Gangnam-gu association, play numbered chair's cups and mayor's cups, often in the district office hall, a library or a school gym.

Seongbuk-gu's federation is listed by the district sports council with its member clubs and their weekly times, on Friday evenings and Saturdays. Outside Seoul, the Incheon federation co-organises the Korea International Chess Festival in Songdo, Yeonsu-gu's federation plays its cup at the WizChess academy, Anyang's has a rapid and a cup for pupils, and Yongin's runs a club league at its office in Suji-gu. Most federations have no public page; their cards rest on the tournaments they organise.
