Blitz chess in Seoul and nearby 5

Blitz, with a few minutes per player, turns up around Seoul in tournaments and in social groups. Sunday Chess Club, a social community that also plays at picnics on the Han River, links to an Insadong blitz tournament for a small field in the basement lounge of a hotel in Jongno-gu, dated for late October 2026. Via Chess in Sujeong, Seongnam, adds blitz events to its standard and rapid series.

Chess Freak played a blitz tournament at its Wirye venue in August 2025, and the Ecclesia series in Seoul had a blitz day in its spring open of 2025. A Meetup group of players who use English and Korean says it plays mostly blitz and welcomes every level, though its page shows no recent dated meeting. Entry fees and time controls differ for each event; check the linked notice before going, since several pages ask for registration ahead.
